After the very helpful and instructive test knit, I’m pleased to announce that Alexandre is now available!
Alexandre is a striped cardigan, for baby boys according to conventions, with a rather classical silhouette. But the use of Reverse stockinette give it a fresh touch and the i-cord border a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it precious.
The construction is rather classical too: Sleeves and body, provisionally cast on, are worked from the bottom up, and are joined at the underarm to form a raglan yoke. After neck shaping, stitches are picked up from all edges to be finished with applied i-cord, so characteristic of this pattern.
The pattern comes with Newborn to 12 months sizes, and includes also a Preemie size. You will need from 180 (preemie) to 460 m (12 mo) “in all” (approx. 200 to 500 yds) of fingering weight yarn. You can see all details here.
A important point: this cardigan can be « knitted » in normal Stockinette stripes! The instructions are provided.
Finally, a big warm thank-you to my fabulous test knitters: vasilka-knit from Russia, cseburaska from Hungary, Tina-jane from the UK for English version, UZURASATOKO and mafumafu from Japan for Japanese version, and mamiemoi, Galexia et pinpenicaille from France for French version for your generosity, comments and awesome photos! And congratulations to mamiemoi who had her grandbaby during the test!
Stripes lovers, try these different stripes with this pattern!
